She later became Chief of Staff for Lee Daniels, former Speaker and Leader of the Illinois House Republicans. As Deputy Chief of Staff she led all legislative initiatives involving Human Services, Education and Appropriations. As Chief of Staff, Laura was intimately involved with the development of the State’s Budget and worked with the Legislative Leaders and their staff to negotiate and pass a $58 billion budget, understanding and balancing the nuances of the policy and political impacts.
