Conflict is an inevitable part of any relationship at work or at home. In fact, a team or relationship without conflict is a team without passion. All relationships must have conflict. However, if done correctly, positive conflict can lead to greater creativity, closer relationships and greater results. When done incorrectly, negative conflict can lead to poor morale, passive-aggressive behaviors, dysfunctional relationships, poor performance, a miserable culture and even legal issues. In this session we will focus on helping people avoid common communication mistakes that lead to negative conflict.
In this interactive session participants will:
-Learn the most common mistakes that people make when communicating with each other
-Gain insight into ways to diffuse angry and difficult individuals
-Identify key ways avoid negative conflict
-Explore sources of organizational conflict
-Gain insight into multiple interpersonal factors that create conflict
-Practice a conflict conversation model that diffuses upset individuals
-Explore how to turn conflict into collaboration
-Identify conflict situations in their life where they could practice this model
All participants will leave equipped to handle personal conflict situations at home and at work.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Tim Ursiny, founder of Advantage Coaching & Training Inc., is a speaker and certified business coach specializing in helping individuals reach peak performance and life satisfaction. His areas of expertise include communication skills, team building, leadership, coaching skills and top performance in times of change.
He received his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College and his doctorate in psychology from Northern Illinois University. He is the member of the International Coach Federation and the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.
He has published several videos and books on the topics of coaching, conflict resolution, and confidence in the workplace. His book, The Coward’s Guide to Conflict is in its fourth printing and has been translated into six foreign languages.
