Springfield Summary: DuPage County Legislative Priorities & Results with Chairman Dan Cronin
The Chamber welcomes DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin to the next session of roundtable discussions on Thursday, June 13, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Cronin will recap how County’s legislative priorities developed under his ACT initiative, fared this session, with several new measures awaiting Gov. Quinn’s signature.
Discussion will cover a variety of topics including a new statute that could allow for a change in how storm water and flood prevention measures are financed, moving to a user fee model from property taxes. Cronin’s talk will initiate the Chamber’s discussion on HB1522, which allows the county to explore storm waters and flood control to be levied as a separate fee.
While the act passed, no decision has been made to implement the model authorized under the legislation. That will only occur after further discussions throughout the County.
Cronin will also discuss legislation that sets in motion government consolidation, and what passage of the joint resolution authorizing the Illinois Tollway to move forward with the long-awaited project that will provide western access to O’Hare International Airport.
